Multi-core and hyperthreading can be mixed

  • 20 May 2009

x86info just taught me a lesson: a multi-core CPU can also support hyperthreading. I always though both „modes” were mutually exclusive. x86info tells me otherwise. Note to self: reinstall Linux kernel with hyperthreading enabled and watch the CPU count rise. Moore rocks.

Well, my mainboard taught me the text lesson: Just because the kernel and the CPU can do hyperthreading, the BIOS and the mainboard may just refuse.
